Lisa M. Mueller, Immediate Past President, Co-Chair of the Judiciary Committee and Co-Chair of the Public Relations Committee, is Associate Director for Communications and Coordinator of Continuing Legal Education at the University at Buffalo Law School. At the Law School, Mueller works with faculty and staff to promote the image and raise the visibility of UB law through its various publications and events. She is responsible for the management of the Law School’s web content, and she oversees the administration of UB Law’s continuing legal education programs.

Mueller earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1988 in sociology and legal studies from the State University of New York at Buffalo. In 1991, she completed her Master of Science, cum laude, also from UB. A 1993 graduate of the University at Buffalo Law School, Mueller began her legal career at the law firm of Watson, Bennett, Colligan, Johnson & Schechter LLP where she practiced civil and commercial litigation and family law.

Always interested in U.S.-Japanese business and cultural relations, Mueller began to study the Japanese language and Japanese import-export regulations while practicing law. In 1996, she traveled to Tokyo where she worked for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government developing international business relations and educational programs for government agencies including Tokyo Waterworks and the Environment Agency of Japan. She also provided consulting on cultural relations for private businesses such as NEC Corp. Upon returning to the U.S. approximately fourteen months later, Mueller worked as a marketing consultant to Japanese importers and U.S. manufacturers on the export of American products. She is a frequent guest lecturer in the University at Buffalo’s Japanese program, and continues to study Japanese educational policies.

She is a member of the Bar Association of Erie County and the Women Lawyers of Western New York. She has been active with the Western New York Chapter of WBASNY since 2000 serving as State Director, Local Director, Newsletter Chair, Awards Chair and President.

She resides in Tonawanda with her husband Jeff and their two children, Devin, age 8 and Jeffrey, age 4.
