Barbara L. Schifeling

BARBARA L. SCHIFELING, Past Chapter President, is a Partner in the Litigation Department of Damon & Morey, L.L.P and a member of the firm’s management committee.  She devotes a significant portion of her practice to defending medical professionals who are the subject of litigation, is a frequent lecturer on medical/legal issues to members of the health care community and has presented mock trials to hospital risk managers and nursing groups.  She has taught classes at Buffalo Law School and at the University of Buffalo School of Nursing.  She is currently the President of the Board of Directors for the YWCA.  She has also chaired a board that established a family health center which offered an alternative health care model to family practice residents.

Ms. Schifeling received her B.A., cum laude, from Lindenwood College, her M.A.T. from the University of Chicago, and her J.D., cum laude, from the University at Buffalo Law School.  Ms. Schifeling professional memberships include the Western New York Trial Lawyers Association, the Erie County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.   She has also served as Western New York liaison to JALBCA (Judges and Lawyers Breast Cancer Alert), an organization which promotes awareness of breast cancer.  She received a Leader of the Law award from the Daily Record and a Woman Who Means Business Award from Business First.
